Contribution stamps
A passport that records what you gave, not where you went.
Neighbour signatures
Three people who live next to you extend your stay.
Leaving ritual
A handover that keeps the door open for next time.
A residency that starts small and grows with your contribution to the community, signed by neighbours instead of officials.
The provocation
Digital nomads arrive fast and leave fast, and places pay the price in rents and broken communities. Slow Borders imagines a visa that is earned slowly, by the people you live next to.
How it would work
Your residency starts at thirty days. It grows with contribution stamps: teaching, volunteering, buying from local businesses. Each extension needs the signature of three neighbours. Leaving well, with a handover ritual, keeps the door open for next time.
The question
Should belonging be something you can earn? And who gets to decide what a good guest looks like?
