Reef score
A daily number that sets how many people the coast can carry.
Swell lottery
On the best days, visitors draw their window.
Local first hours
Dawn belongs to the people who live there.
In a future Bali, access to the coast depends on reef health and swell, and locals get the first hours of every good day.
The provocation
Surf breaks and reefs are being loved to death. Tide Passport imagines a coast that decides its own capacity, based on reef health, water quality and the swell, not on demand.
How it would work
Visitors book a window, not a beach. A daily reef score sets how many people can enter. On the best days, the first hours belong to local surfers and fishers, and visitors join a lottery for the rest.
The question
Is it fair to ration nature for people who paid to travel across the world? Or is it only fair this way?
